Description

Captured at the Låtefossen waterfall in Norway.

It was a pain in the arse to get this shot to say the least. Due to the weather conditions I spend almost one hour, half of the time only waiting for the rain to stop. When there was a short rain break I rushed to the locations I scouted out earlier, armed with an umbrella and a microfibre cloth in order to keep the lens free from water. Must have been hilarious for people passing by to see me jumping around with an umbrella, tripod and camera :D

However I found it hilarious too when I saw people taking pictures with flash while they were sitting in their caravan and passing by the waterfall, haha.

This was my last frame I was shooting back at this place and it was already starting to rain and it was about to get dark, hence I used high ISO. I didn't think that this shot would turn out good anyway, so I didn't bother going higher with the ISO. However this turned out to be the best shot of this evening, that's life...

UPDATE
I was able to replace most of the noisy image areas by another exposure which was captured earlier. Now I'm quite happy with the result, there is also way more details in the forest on the right side. The foreground was intentionally left very dark, otherwise it would distracted too much.

Personally, I really like this photo. It reminds me of going to the lakes with my family in the summer, and brings up some very happy memories!

I like the color contrast, how the blue and green colors are natural yet vibrant, in a way. I also find the atmosphere very intriguing, with the fog and smooth water and whatnot.

I think you did very well with the composition, in the way that you positioned the camera so that the bridge sort of leads our eyes down the water. I could have done without the plants in the foreground, but that's just me.

I must admit that I don't really think the lighting matches up in this photo...it's a little dark, first of all, but some areas of the water seem to be lit up. It's actually kind of unique, but probably not the greatest technically speaking.

I do agree about the grain, it bothers me quite a bit, especially in the trees to the right.

I've seen a ton of waterfall pictures, but I think what makes this one stand out is the bridge and how you can see the mountains in the way distance. The photo captures your eye immediately and is very appealing to look at.

Wonderful work!
